Situated on the right bank, and joined to the Uruguay River by an
artificial access channel 1.200 meters long and 60 meters wide.
The total quay frontage is 1.170 meters in length (LAT. 32°30'S
LONG. 58°15'W).
Despite it having 23 quays and jetties, only 4 are in use, namely:
a) Berths 3-4: Continuous quay 212 MT in length, with good
open storage. Prefered for loading general cargoes.
b) Berths 5-6-7: Continuous quay of 100 meters in length.
c) Berths 20-21-22: Three short jetties, which for the grain
elevator loading berth. Storage capacity of the elevator is 20.000
MT and the loading rate is 800 MT per hour. The elevator is now
controlled by the Provincial Authorities (IFP).
d) Berth 23: Continuous quay, 80 meters in length, used for
tanker operations.
The access channel is 1.200 meters long and 60 meters wide.
Restrictions: Max LOA permitted 225
meters. Entry and departure is done usually in daylight, particularly
with vessels of over 140 meters LOA. One tug is required for berthing/unberthing,
for vessels over 160 meters LOA.
