There are two main installations: 1) the Grand Dock, for general
cargoes, petcoke, chemicals and petroleum products, and 2) Siderar's
berth at Puerto Rocca, situated at around 5 KM upstream of the Río
Santiago.
1) Grand Dock: It is in line with the entrance channel, and
just after the turning basin. It has an extent of about 2.500 meters,
of which the first 1.200 are not used. The remaining 1.300 meters,
are connected with pipe lines from the tanks on the east side. On
the West side, there are also pipe lines connected to tanks, but
used for chemical products. Berths 7 and 8 are occupied by Copetro
petcoke terminal, and alongside, to the North, an open quay for
general cargoes.
2) Puerto Ingeniero Rocca: Reinforced concrete quay, 155
meters in length, specially built to exports cold rolled coils and
steel sheets from the steel mill, owned by Siderar. Situated 5 KM
from the entrance channel along the Río Santiago. The channel is
unlit, so navigation is only effected in daylight. The berth has
two cranes mounted on rails of 30 MT lifting capacity, and 16 meters
outreach. Stevedoring and lashing is carried out by Siderar personnel,
however the Chief Tally Clerk, is for ship's account.
