Port of Rosario.

Situated at KM 420 of the River Paraná, right margin (LAT 32°57'S LONG 60°38?W).
The berths, from North to South, can be divided into 5 groups:
a) Elevator cliff berths
b) City general cargo wharfs
c) Public berths
d) New (South) wharf
e) Grain elevators VI and VII

a) Elevator cliff berths

1.- FACA berth (ex Unit I).
Overall berthing booms 150 meters, with outlying mooring chains for head and stern lines.
Panamaxes have berthed at this pier. Average loading rate is about 1000 MT per hour. The storage capacity is 18.000 MT.

2.- Genaro García Terminal

Vessels berth on 5 dolphins. The overall length is 140 meters, with two outlying head and stern bollard moorings.
The load rate achieved is about 1200 MT per hour. Grain storage capacity is 70.000 MT.

3.- UNIT III.
The elevator was built in 1940 and purchased from the NGB by Servicios Portuarios S.A.
Vessels berth on two concrete dolphins 80 meters apart, with outlying mooring dolphins.
Vessels with upto 220 meters have berthed alongside. The loading rate is 850 MT per hour, and the storage capacity 82.000 MT.

b) City wharfs and New (South) pier

The city wharfs are used for bulk sugar, and citrus. The South quay is used for discharging bulk cargoes (fertilizers and steel billets) and loading vegetable oils, for the storage tanks.

The Paraguayan Free Zone wharf is about 300 meters in length. It has two sheds, and a small grain elevator (ex Unit V), to which grain and agri-products are brought down by barges from Paraguay and Bolivia, and then transshipped/stored into the elevator, to be later loaded onto the ocean-going vessel. This pier has been though, out of activity for some years now.

c) Public berths.

These belong to the Ministry of Public Works, including repair facilities and dry-docks for small vessels

d) New (South) Wharf

The total length is 570 meters, of reinforced concrete It is a wide, open pier, with 2 cranes of 12.5MT lifting capacity, equipped with grabs.
Adjacent to the pier, there is vegetable oils storage capacity, belonging to Guide, with a total capacity of 18.000 MT. Vegetable oils are loaded regularly, at a rate of 350/500 MT per hour.

e) Grain elevators VI and VII

1) Elevator VI: Berthing is alongside 4 dolphins, with a total length of 250 meters. Storage capacity of the silo is 120.000 MT.
2) Elevator VII: This elevator (ex National Grain Board), together with Unit VI, have been taken over by Servicios Portuarios for 25 years. Built on a reinforced concrete wharf. Length overall is approximately 250 meters. Storage capacity of the silos is 80.000 MT. The average loading rate is 1200 MT per hour.

f) Punta Alvear (KM 406.5)

This private grain elevator is owned by Punta Alvear S.A. (Productos Sudamericanos group), and is located around 15 KM South of Rosario.
The berth consists of 4 interconnected dolphins, with a berthing frontage of approximately 1.325 meters, with two outlying head and stern mooring dolphins. Capers have berthed alongside. The loading rate is around 2.000 MT per hour. Storage capacity in the silos is 250.000 MT.

Port of Arroyo Seco.
ARROYO SECO (LAT. 33°07' S LONG. 60°42' W) Situated at KM 395, just around 30 Km South of Rosario.

General Lagos Terminal
This private terminal is owned by Louis Dreyfus. The berth has been built of reinforced concrete, and consists of 4 dolphins, with an overall length of 140 meters, with two outlying mooring dolphins, 75 meters ahead and astern. Capers have berthed alongside.

The loading rate is 1.000 MT per hour when loading grain and 750 MT per hour when loading by-products. Storage capacity of the plant is 300.000 MT of grain, and upto 30.000 MT vegetable oils..
