Situated
between KMS 441 / 456 right margin of the River Paraná, (Lat 32°47’S
Long 60°43’W)
San Lorenzo and San Martín (commonly known as “San Lorenzo” in shipping),
have become the leading exporters of grains, by-products and vegetable
oils, with an annual movement of over 14.5 million tons through
the modern terminals.
From North to South, the following are the private berth and terminals:
San Lorenzo
1.- A.C.A. (KM 446.2)
Private grain terminal, owned by the Asociación de Cooperativas
Argentinas.
Vessels berth on 4 dolphins. Frontage 176 meters with 2 outlying
head and stern mooring bollards, which allow vessels of up to
273 meters LOA to berth.. The loading rate for grains id 1500
MT per hour, while for by-products, a rate of 1000 MT per hour
is obtained. Vegetable oils are loaded at a rate of 850 MT per
hour. The dry storage capacity is 240.000 MT for grain, 25.000
MT for by-products and 36.000 MT vegetable oils.
2.- Vicentín (KM 442)
Private grain terminal, owned by Vicentín S.A. As in the other
terminals, the vessels berth on 4 dolphins, with a frontage
of 140 meters.
Outlying mooring dolphins 95 meters ahead and 60 meters astern.
Average loading rates are 1200 MT per hour for grains, and 700
MT per belt. Vegetable oils can be loaded at 800 MT per hour.
Dry storage capacity is 223.000 MT for grains and by-products,
and 28.700 MT for vegetable oils.
The berth also has good barge discharging facilities, on the
inner side of the loading gallery. These ARE discharged by two
suction units, onto a conveyor belt. Bulk Sulphur (for the adjacent
Duperial Terminal) is also discharged at this berth by using
ship's gear with grab discharge into hoppers, placed over the
mentioned conveyor. |
