Port of San Nicolás.

Situated at KM 343 of the River Paraná (LAT. 33°22' S LONG. 60°08' W).

There are four distinct section which are, from North to South:
a) KM 352 - New Port - open berths
b) KM 349.50 - Grain Elevator
c) KM 347.50 - Central Térmica San Nicolás - Power Station
d) KM 344.50 - Ingeniero Buitrago Port - Steel plant

a) New Port.
Reinforced concrete quay 537 meters in length, and 40 meters wide. It is equipped with 6 cranes with a lifting capacity of 20/27 MT. There are also two mobile cranes with 7/30 lifting capacity. At mid-point and at the rear, there are 4 silos with a grain storage capacity of 10.000 MT. The average loading rate is 600 MT per hour. Alongside the quay, there is ample open storage space.

b) Grain Elevator.
Operators of the elevator are Provincial Port Activities. The berth consists of 2 dolphins, each 10 meters frontage, and separated in between 143 meters, with outlying bollards, 60 meters beyond the dolphins. Vessels of upto 250 meters have berthed alongside. Average loading rate is 1.400 MT per hour from main silos, and 700 MT per hour, when taken from auxiliary silos.

c) Central Térmica Power Station.

Reinforced concrete quay, 200 meters long. It is equipped with two cranes, fitted with 5 cbm grabs, 15 meters outreach, and conveyor belts. This quay is used to receive coal, at a rate of 7.000 MT per day, working 2 holds/2 cranes. Adjacent to the quay there is an 180.000 MT open coal storage space.

d) Ingeniero Buitrago Port.

Owned by Siderar. The Southern Quay (Berth A) is used for discharging iron ore and coal plus the loading of coke breeze. The Northern Quay (Berth B) is the commercial berth for loading finished steel products. Both quays are of reinforced concrete.
Berth A, is 680 meters long and 15 meters wide. It has 2 grab fitted cranes that discharge around 800 MT per hour, and 1 crane that discharges at 1.400 MT per hour. Basis 2 holds/2 cranes, the discharge rate is 20.000 MT iron ore per day or 13.000 MT of coal. On same basis, the loading rate of coke breeze is 8.000 MT per day.. Berth B is 320 meters long, and 30 meters wide. It is fitted with 2 cranes of 15 MT and 1 of 30 MT.
No tugs required for berthing/unberthing.
