Situated at KM 365 of the River Paraná (LAT. 33°14' S LONG 60°20'
W).
The port consists of the following berths, from North to South:
a) Servicios Portuarios (ex Unit 1)
b) Servicios Portuarios Grain elevator Terminal (ex Unit 2)
c) Coastal Wharf
d) Puerto Acevedo (Acindar commercial wharf)
e) Puerto Acevedo (Acindar mineral wharf)
a) Servicios Portuarios. There are 4 silos, with a total
storage capacity of 26.000 MT. Berthing is alongside 3 mooring dolphins,
about 50 meters apart, with head and stern mooring points. The wharf
consists of a concrete surface, laid on old wooden pilings, which
accept only light weights.
b) Grain Elevator Terminal. Servicos Portuarios S.A. has
taken over the concession of the port for 25 years. The pier is
of reinforced concrete on pilings, with 2 berths. The pier is 165
meters long and 12.6 meters wide, being able to receive Panamaxes
on the outer side, and upto 180 meters LOA on the inner side. Storage
capacity of the silos is 55.000 MT and there is also underground
storage of 170.000 MT. The loading rate achieved is 700 MT per hour,
when working one vessel only.
Tug assistance is needed, and berthing and unberthing operations
are effected in daylight hours only.
c) Coastal wharf. Near the entrance of the access channel.
Suitable for small vessels only. Wharf is 80 meters in length and
has road transport access.
d) Puerto Acevedo (commercial wharf). Of reinforced concrete,
110 meters in length and 20 meters in width. Has outlying mooring
points. There are two traveling cranes which load steel products,
situated at the rear of the wharf. Vessels with up to 180 meters
LOA berth, but have to shift alongside when end hatches are used.
Loading rate for wire rods in coils is 2.000/2.500 MT per day.
e) Puerto Acevedo (mineral wharf). It is 160 meters long,
by 20 meters wide, and has outlying mooring points. The wharf has
an overhead traveling grab fitted crane for discharging iron ore
to the storage areas via a conveyor belt. The discharging is performed
at a rate of 500 MT per hour shinc. At this pier, vessels enter
and sail at any time, and no tugs assistance is required.
