Located at KM 107 of the River Paraná (LAT 34°06'S LONG. 59°01'W).
The port area has the following terminals, from North to South:
a) Vitco (KM 112.5): Private terminal, consisting of two berths:
Nbr. 1. for ocean going vessels. It consists of 4 dolphins, with
a berthing front of 80 meters with a central manifold jetty. Two
outlying bollards allow vessels up to 230 meters and 60.000 MT DWT
to berth. Nbr. 2 berth consists of 2 berthing dolphins and a central
manifold jetty.
b) Auto Terminal Zarate (ATZ) (KM 111): Private terminal, operating
with Ro-Ro vessels. The frontage is 1.000 meters, and has a total
storage for 24.000 vehicles. The quay is reinforced concrete and
steel, and is 200 meters long, by 20 meters wide. LOA permitted
250 meters and a DWT of 60.000 MT. A second berth with 3 dolphins,
downstream, permits the berthing of two Ro-Ro's simultaneously.
c) Zarate Port S.A. (KM 110.20): Private terminal, used for
general and bulk cargoes. An ex- ferry which has been adapted, has
been moored, acting as a floating landing stage. It is joined to
the shore by two ramps (17.50 x 4.50 meters). Vessels of up to 200
meters LOA have berthed alongside. Shore cranes have to be hired.
Tugs are not compulsory, but port pilots may request one tug upon
sailing, depending on vessel's LOA, and weather conditions.
The Zarate-Brazo Largo bridge has a span of 49 meters, and the actual
clearance must be checked before passing.
